‘In spite of e-books, printed versions too are in demand’

“Any publisher is good if the writers are creative and zealous,’ said Gagandeep Sing, senior commissioning editor, CRC press, Taylor & Francis group.

Speaking at a workshop on scientific and technical book writing skills organised by the Knowledge Resource Centre of GITAM University on Saturday, he said that in spite of e-books, the printed books were in great demand as they were comfortable and convenient to read. He later explained the issues related to agreement, royalty, and deadlines of submission.

Regional publishing manager of The Taylor & Francis, Anindita Pandey, gave a presentation on publishing a research paper and the various stages of submission of research paper.

She stressed on the importance of understanding the scope and aim of a journal and selecting the right journal.

During the day-long workshop, both the speakers mainly focused on scientific and technical publishing process, gave valuable guidance on preparing and submitting proposals, publishing articles in academic journals, publishing ethics, peer-review process, contracts, copyrights and royalties.

Inaugurating the workshop, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University G. Subrahmanyam suggested the scholars and faculty of the university to enhance their resources significantly and publish their works through books and journals.
