CRC Editorial Workshop and Book Exhibition at IIT Indore

Taylor & Francis India participated in a CRC Press Editorial Workshop and Book Exhibition at Indian Institute of Technology, Indore from 8^th October to 9^th October 2012. We participated in alliance with our distributor – Academia Book Distributor, Delhi. It was held at two different campuses of IIT Indore. On 8^th October, it took place at Devi Ahilya Bai University Campus followed by PACL Campus, Mhow on 9^th October 2012. We had displayed our wide range of titles on Engineering, Humanities and Social Science. A very positive response was received from the faculty and students. They also recommended our books for the library.

The event was a success and a wonderful experience.  

Teachers' and Administrators' Conference at Taj, Cochin

Taylor & Francis Group participated in the Teachers' and Administrators' Conference organized by The Association of International Schools of India (TAISI) at Vivanta by Taj in Cochin from 26 – 30 Sep 2012. The conference aims at professional development which is beneficial to all in the field of education. In India, more than 300 international schools are operational out of which 120 are the member of TAISI & few are the member of CIS (Council of International Schools) as well. There were around 40 participants from across India.

It was a good platform to understand and interact with people from the International School market. The market is big and growing each year with schools spending from 3 to 10 lakhs for reference purchase.  It helped us identify product from our existing basket and what plans should be done for future which will definitely facilitate us in capturing substantial share in this market. We displayed the books from our various imprints i.e. Routledge, CRC Press, Psychology Press etc.

It was a successful and a wonderful experience. We look forward to more challenging conferences in the future.

Book Exhibition at National Insititute of Design, Ahmedabad

Taylor & Francis India had participated in a book exhibition organized in National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad on 11^th Sept & 12^th Sept 2012 through local book supplier i.e. Books India, Ahmedabad. There were total 11 participants (Library Suppliers) including Sage, Oxford etc. We displayed titles in the following subject areas: Design, Art, Management, Media and Mass Communication, Architecture and Photography. Our titles from Focal Press got a good response from the institute as they were displayed by a few library suppliers present at the event.

The event was a successful and a wonderful experience. We look forward to participating in this event again which may took place in the month of Dec 2012 or Feb 2013.  

The Molecules of Life: Physical and Chemical Principles Book Launch on 14 August 2012

‘The Molecules of Life: Physical and Chemical Principles’ by Dr John Kuriyan was released on Tuesday 14^th August 2012 at New Biological Science building Auditorium at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The evening began with a lecture by Dr. John Kuriyan on "Allosteric Mechanisms in the Activation of the EGF Receptor" followed by the release of the book by Prof. P. Balaram, Director of Indian Institute of Science, Prof K. Vijayaraghavan, Director of National Centre for Biological Sciences and Prof M.K Mathew at the National Centre for Biological Sciences.

The event was a grand affair and was graced by eminent personalities from the field of Molecular Biology & other academicians. Over 150 Research Scholars & professors attended the book release function. This was a very interactive session for the students as Dr. Kuriyan answered all their questions and the event ended with a quiz organized by the author along with a lucky draw.

Nepal Book Fair 2012

Taylor & Francis India participated in The 16^th Nepal Book Fair from 6 July – 14 July 2012. This year, Taylor & Francis Group was one of the Guest of Honour at the book fair. Pankaj Bhardwaj, our General Manager – Print Sales shared the dais with the Chief Guest; ex-minister of Education & current member of Parliament of Nepal. Pankaj spoke on behalf of all international publishers participating in the book fair. Important visitors were – The Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal  Shri Baburam Bhattarai, Ex PM & the leader of Maoist group Shri Pusph Kamal Dahal popularly known as “Prachanda”.

We showcased all our products  and our series - Thinking in action, Key ideas & New Critical Thinkers gained maximum audience attention. The highlights were our titles in Philosophy & Routledge Classics which became the talk of the town and sold like hot cakes. By the end of the Book Fair, we were left with only a few copies.
